Sometimes I pack this&nbsp; pongal for his breakfast when he leaves early from home. It stays soft for hours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" trbidi=\"on\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\" trbidi=\"on\">&nbsp;As I make in pressure cooker, I would say this is the easiest and healthy one pot breakfast recipe. But make sure u add lesser salt than the usual quantity because oats needs lesser salt than rice, adding more makes the dish salty.<br \/>\n&nbsp; <\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chitrasfoodbook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Oats-pongal-FINAL_thumb-1.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Oats-pongal\" border=\"0\" height=\"611\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chitrasfoodbook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Oats-pongal-FINAL_thumb-1.jpg?resize=492%2C611&#038;ssl=1\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-color: initial; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-style: initial; border-top: 0px; border-width: 0px; display: inline;\" title=\"Oats-pongal\" width=\"492\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div id=\"inpostAd1PlaceHolder\">\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<strong><br \/><\/strong><\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<strong>INGREDIENTS<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>1 cup &#8211; 240ml<\/strong><\/div>\n<table align=\"center\" bgcolor=\"#efefef\" border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"1\" cellspacing=\"1\" style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"100%\">\n<ul>\n<li>Quick Oats \u2013 1 cup ( I&nbsp; have used Horlicks\/ Kelloggs oats)  <\/li>\n<li>Moong dal \u2013 1\/3 cup  <\/li>\n<li>Turmeric powder \u2013 1\/4 tsp  <\/li>\n<li>Salt \u2013 As needed  <\/li>\n<li>Water \u2013 2.5 \u2013 3 cups<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To temper<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oil \/ ghee \u2013 2 tsp  <\/li>\n<li>Pepper corns \u2013 1 tsp  <\/li>\n<li>Jeera \/ Cumin seeds \u2013 1.5 tsp  <\/li>\n<li>Curry leaves \u2013 1 sprig  <\/li>\n<li>Ginger \u2013 1 inch piece (chop finely)  <\/li>\n<li>Green chilli \u2013 1 no (slit)  <\/li>\n<li>Hing- 2 pinches<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ghee \u2013 1 tsp ( to add in the end)<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<strong>HOW TO MAKE OATS PONGAL &#8211; METHOD<\/strong><\/div>\n<table align=\"center\" bgcolor=\"#efefef\" border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"1\" cellspacing=\"1\" style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" width=\"100%\">\n<ul>\n<li>In a pressure cooker base, heat 2 tsp of oil or ghee and add the pepper corns. After it starts to splutter, add jeera, green chillies, ginger &amp; curry leaves. Saute everything for a second.<\/li>\n<li>Then add the moong dal and roast it for a minute.Keep the flame low to avoid burning of spices &amp; dal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chitrasfoodbook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/oats-pongal-tile1_thumb-1.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"oats pongal tile1\" border=\"0\" height=\"203\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.chitrasfoodbook.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/oats-pongal-tile1_thumb-1.jpg?resize=500%2C203&#038;ssl=1\" style=\"border-width: 0px; display: inline;\" title=\"oats pongal tile1\" width=\"500\"><\/a> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Add 2.5 \u20133 cups of water, Hing, turmeric powder &amp; salt. After it starts to boil, add the oats. Mix well and close the cooker with the lid. Cook it for 1 whistle in low flame.<\/li>\n<li>Switch off the flame, Open the cooker after the steam is released. I feel the above method easy for me to make everything in pressure cooker.  <\/li>\n<li>Please adjust the water quantity as per the consistency you need. I always add 1:3 oats &amp; water ratio as my husband likes it mushy and wet.  <\/li>\n<li>Addition of turmeric powder is optional.
