water &#8211; as needed<\/span> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To temper<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span itemprop=\"ingredients\">Cooking oil &#8211; 1 tbsp<\/span>  <\/li>\n<li><span itemprop=\"ingredients\">Mustard seeds &#8211; 1\/2 tsp<\/span>  <\/li>\n<li><span itemprop=\"ingredients\">Urad dal &#8211; 1 tbsp<\/span>  <\/li>\n<li><span itemprop=\"ingredients\">Chana dal \u2013 1 tbsp<\/span>  <\/li>\n<li><span itemprop=\"ingredients\">Curry leaves &#8211; few<\/span>  <\/li>\n<li><span itemprop=\"ingredients\">Asafetida\/Hing &#8211; 2 pinches<\/span> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span itemprop=\"ingredients\">Coconut oil &#8211; 1 tbsp<\/span> <br \/>\nGrated coconut \u2013 3 tbsp<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<strong>METHOD<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><br \/><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<table align=\"center\" bgcolor=\"#efefef\" border=\"0\" cellpadding=\"1\" cellspacing=\"1\" style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n<ul>\n<li itemprop=\"recipeInstructions\">Wash the thick aval\/Poha for 2-3 times. This helps to get white colored upma. Add water to cover the aval and soak it for 10 minutes. Heat oil and temper mustard seeds, urad dal and chana dal. Add hing, curry leaves, onions, green chillies, ginger and salt. Keep the flame low. Cover the kadai with a lid and let the aval cook for 5 minutes. After the poha turns soft and cooked, switch off the flame.
