We would buy in the ration and my mom had to separate rice from the broken rice using moram. The noi (broken rice) was used to make this stuff and we used to call it noi arisi pongal. We used to eat rotis for dinner but on Thursdays our friends would come to watch what was called Chaaya Geet and had no time to help mom in making rotis (for a family of 6). Thanks for sharing this
